Introducing Almost – An Instagram-First Media Platform Telling World News Stories For Young People

Today, I’m really excited to launch Almost, an Instagram-first media outlet focused on telling world news stories for young people, available in both English and Chinese.

I got into journalism because I wanted to inspire meaningful change in the world, and Almost's mission is to inform young people – especially young women – about important issues that are going on globally and empower them to take positive action to shape the world they live in.

Inspired by Rookie Magazine, I chose the name as the outlet for teens who exist in a state of "almostness" – not quite a child yet not quite an adult. It's also reflective of the type of news I'll be covering – people living in a world that is “almost” there and trying to make it better.

Almost will cover politics, women’s rights, social justice and activism and hard news topics that are often underreported and underrepresented on Instagram, as well as wholesome and heartwarming stories.

As my mission for my work is to help people become more aware of the world around them and how complex topics happening worldwide directly affect them, I've also launched a Chinese version of Almost to make world news more accessible for Mandarin-speaking audiences on Instagram.

This is something that I’ve been working towards for months, and I can't wait to start sharing all of the exciting things I have planned with you.

Please take a look and let me know what you think, or if you are interested in working together, please reach out at hi@kassycho.com.
